Save presets and filenames

Preset folders, filename patterns and tokens, Quick Save, and Single Tap Save.

If you scan regularly, you save to the same few places with the same conventions — invoices here, receipts there, always named by date and subject. Save presetsPro capture those conventions once so every later save is one tap.

What a preset contains

Name
How the preset appears in the Save menu and settings — e.g. Invoices.
Folder
The destination. Choose Folder picks one; Clear switches the preset to Select Folder on Save, which asks each time.
Filename
A pattern with tokens — see below — with a live Preview and a Reset to the default.
Export
The output format: Standard, Use JBIG2 Compression, Create PDF/A-2u Archive or Export unmodified — explained in Saving and exporting.
Smart Save
Optional matching criteria so the preset can be chosen automatically — see Smart Save.

Manage presets under SettingsSave Presets: Add Preset creates one, drag to reorder (the order matters for Smart Save), swipe or Delete Preset to remove. The built-in Default preset always exists — it cannot be renamed or deleted and doubles as the Smart Save fallback.

Save preset configuration on iPad
A preset with folder, filename pattern and Smart Save criteria.

Quick Save

Every preset with a configured folder shows up in the Save menu’s Quick Save section. One tap exports with that preset’s folder, filename and format — no dialogs.

Filename patterns and tokens

The filename pattern mixes fixed text with tokens inserted via Insert Token. The default pattern produces names like 2026-07-07 Electricity Bill — save date plus recognized title.

TokenBecomes
Year / Year (Short) / Month / DayThe date of the save — 2026 / 26 / 07 / 07.
Hour / Minute / SecondThe time of the save.
Month Name / WeekThe month’s name and the ISO week number.
OCR TitleThe document’s own title, detected from the recognized text. Requires OCR.
OCR Year / Month / DayThe date printed on the document — an invoice dated June 3 gets June 3, regardless of when you scan it. Requires OCR.
SelectionText you currently have selected on a page — select the one line that should name the file, then save.
Current LocationA short name of where you are. Asks for location permission the first time; used only when a pattern contains this token.
Computer / UserThe device name and user name — useful for shared folders.
# / ## / ### / ####A sequence number, padded to that many digits. Neo picks the lowest number that keeps the filename unique in the destination folder — repeated exports never overwrite each other.
NoteIf a generated filename already exists and the pattern has no number token, Neo appends one automatically — a save never silently replaces an existing file.

Single Tap Save

By default, tapping Save opens the menu. If your workflow always starts the same way, enable Single Tap SavePro in the settings and choose a Single Tap Action:

A long press on Save always opens the full menu, so the other options stay one gesture away.
